Cavities

Every year thousands of people suffer from cavities. A dentist in Fairfield says that cavities are dental decay, or in other words, they are holes in the teeth. A cavity is formed due to sugar and plaque on the teeth that eat away at the teeth’s surface. If left untreated they can be very painful and develop into bigger problems like root canals. The treatment to a cavity is very simple.

To treat a cavity the dentist will first numb the area of the mouth where the tooth is decaying. Once numbed, he will begin to scrape away the cavity, cleaning out all the plaque and sugar that is affecting the tooth in a harmful way. After it is all cleaned out, he will place a filling in the hole and seal it off. This makes it so that the tooth cannot be affected again by cavities and other oral issues.

The dentist in Fairfield also said ‘’the best way to treat a cavity is to never let them happen.’’ Brushing and flossing on a daily basis with the occasional use of mouth wash will help the teeth stay healthy and strong, removing all substances that are a threat to the teeth and mouth. If you have cavities get them treated quickly, to avoid bigger more serious health problems.
