Dry Socket

A dry socket is a very uncomfortable and painful experience that is suffered by many people after tooth loss or removal, especially seen after the removal of the wisdom teeth. A dentist on Upper East Side says that a dry socket can be caused due to many various factors and the only way they can be treated is through the help of a dentist. Here are some of the causes of a dry socket.

After a tooth removal operation, the dentist will indicate to his patients the foods that they should stay away from or wait to eat until they have fully healed. A big cause of a dry socket is when people do not head this instruction and eats whatever they want before their mouth is ready. Food can get stuck in the holes formed and infect the area. Smoking, spitting, and sucking on things too hard, as well have been known to cause dry sockets as well.

The dentist on Upper East Side says it is better to avoid the dry socket by doing what the dentist says after the removal or loss of teeth. If we are careful to not eat the foods we shouldn’t or to smoke or drink before our mouth has healed, we will be able to avoid a dry socket and the excruciating pain of a dry socket.
